Notes - This white grape from the Rhône Valley is relatively rare in Australia. It produces a high quality wine with powerful floral aromas and honey and apricot flavours. The Viognier is sourced mainly from Watson’s and A Blocks on the Mitchelton estate. Vines from both of these blocks are the original Montpellier clone and are among the earliest of this classic Rhone variety planted in Australia. This is the second vintage that includes a proportion of younger fruit as well. The wine was 90% barrel fermented in 4 year old barrels to ensure oaking is quite subtle and there is good varietal expression, it then spends six months on yeast lees post fermentation, the wine is then barrel selected and blended. Description - Vibrant lemon colour with green hues. Enticing aromas of musk, apricot blossam and fresh pear lead to a luscious palate with intense lingering pink grapefruit and fresh apricot flavours. The creamy texture is well balanced by acidity which gives the wine a clean fresh finish.
