Wine information:
The Contino wines are produced solely from vineyards on the CVNE estate. Vinedos del Contino is one of Spain's most important wine estates, making wines according to the 'chateau' system. Established in 1972, it is a single vineyard estate, producing 4 wines, among them the prized Graciano and Vina del Olivo, maybe one of the best wines made in modern Spain. Winemaker Jesus Madrazo, son of the founder, aims to be at the vanguard of Riojan wine making whilst preserving its established traditions. Contino was one of the few estates that perservered with, and rescued, the Graciono grape from obscurity. The reserva is aged in French and American oak for two years. It is intense and has a deep garnet colour and very high aromatic intensity where lifted black fruit notes stand out. On the palate, it is warm, full bodied, expressive and fragrant, with a long fruity and spicy aftertaste. Tempranillo: 85 %, Mazuelo: 2 %, Graciano: 10 % and Garnacha Tinta: 2 %.
