Wine information:
Widely acclaimed as a California wine trailblazer, Newton was one of the first wineries on Spring Mountain, a rugged yet serene appellation located west of St. Helena on the eastern flank of the Mayacamas range which separates Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Newton Vineyard was established in 1977, the vision of founders Dr. Su Hua and Peter Newton, who recognized the potential of Spring Mountain as a prime viticultural region. Newton Vineyard Unfiltered wines, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot are the wines most closely identified with the heritage and history of the estate. The winery is recognized as an American pioneer of unfiltered wines, a philosophy that adds complexity to the winemaking process and demands meticulousness and attention to detail, but maximizes all the subtle characters of the fruit. Newton Unfiltered Merlot is fermented with wild yeast, native to Newton’s Spring Mountain Estate, and is bottled unfiltered to preserve the natural fruit essence and to foster the wine’s unique aroma and flavour. This exceptional dedication to nurturing the richness that nature provides allows Newton Vineyards to produce wines of brilliance and purity. It is a blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc.
