Wasmund's Single Malt Whiskey

Wine information: Distilled at Copper Fox Distillery in Virginia, Rick Wasmund’s Single Malt is made from 100% locally sourced barley. Copper Fox is also the only distillery in North America to malt their own barley and the only distillery on the planet to use apple and cherry wood smoke to flavour the malted barley. At Copper Fox single batch malt whiskey is only produced one barrel at a time and the spirit is non-chill filtered to preserve the complete flavor and essence of the barley grain. The whiskey is matured twice in used Bourbon barrels. The first one has a trap door through which an infusion of apple wood chips and oak wood chips is inserted for 18 months. The second ageing is in a bourbon barrel for a further 24 months. It is sweet and nutty and reminiscent of Calvados. "Like smelling a field of ripe grain as a thunderstorm rolls in. The first bite of a crisp, ripe apple with a hint of toasted almond. Silky finish somewhere between subtle vanilla and licorice fade. A tantalizing bouquet and surprisingly full flavored."
