Wine information: Chateau Burgrave is the second wine of Chateau Bonalgue, owned by Pierre Bourotte and located in Pomerol to the northeast of Libourne. The estate is 6.5 hectares and is made from the youngest vines of Chateau Bonalgue. The blend is 85% merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc which, after fermentation in stainless steel and a long vatting period of 4 weeks, is aged 18 months in french oak barrels (30% new and 70% one-year barrels. Production is small, approximately 6000 bottles per vintage. The wine-making is over seen by Jean Philippe Fort, a protegé of Michel Rolland.

Tasting Notes: Chateau Burgrave is an elegant, well-balanced wine with a fresh bouquet, red fruit and spicy notes on the palate.

Food & Wine match: Ideal with red meat or hard cheeses.
