Wine information:
Situated in the heart of Lebanon, in the Bekaa Valley, Château Kefraya’s 300-hectare domaine extends to the foothills of Mount Lebanon, 20 km to the south of the city of Chtaura. The vineyards are planted in a succession of terraces and hills which are often on quite steep slopes, at an altitude of 950 to 1100 metres on clay, lime and stone soils. For six to seven months a year there is no rainfall whatsoever. The winery is located at the centre of the domaine and is fitted with highly sophisticated equipment allowing the manually gathered grapes to be conveyed, de-stemmed, vinified and pressed in small quantities and with maximum care and attention to each individual parcel. Exclusively manual harvest, with the selection at the vineyard of the best grapes with optimal maturity. After destemming, berries are crushed before being placed in tanks. Alcoholic fermentation and macerations in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks for a period of 1 to 3 weeks with temperatures ranging from 23 and 28 degrees depending on the vine. Malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks. Maturing takes place in tanks for ten months until the bottling process, then aging in bottles for a period of 6 months.
Tasting Notes:
A ruby colour, with slightly tiled reflections. Fresh, with subtle notes of cooked fruits, syrup macerated fruits and jam, with delicate hints of light wood, mushroom and spices. On the palate, this wine is balanced and structured, displaying spiced and fruity notes, and well balanced tannins. Les Bretèches 2007 is considered a wine in its full evolution, very easy to taste, and light enough to be consumed on any occasion.
