Wine information:
Errazuriz Estate was founded in 1870 when
Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards at Panquehue in the
Aconcagua Valley - 100km North of the capital. Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano's descendant
Eduardo Chadwick. Eduardo is the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the wine business. Errazuriz's philosophy is best expressed by Don Maximiano who said, "From the best land, the best wine.
Viņa Errazuriz believe in the concept of 'terroir' and strive to produce the finest wines by controlling every stage of the winemaking process, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. This Single Vineyard Shiraz is sourced from the Don Maximiano Estate located in the Valle de Aconcagua, a region with a Mediterranean climate with moderately warm summer days and cooling afternoon breezes. The Shiraz vineyard is vertically trellised to provide longer solar exposure throughout the season and encourage the development of high quality fruit. The vines are spur pruned with intensive canopy management to ensure an excellent balance between leaf surface area and crop load. The wine was aged for twelve months in 48% new oak barrels, of which 52% are French and 48% American.
Tasting Notes:
Errazuriz Single Vineyard Syrah is a gorgeous violet-ruby-red in colour. The nose offers a blend of fruits that recall blackberry and ripe plum, along with the contribution of the oak that expresses chocolate, incense, and some roasted aromas. The palate presents plenty of fiber and nerve, along with a very good structure and plenty of juiciness that lends a fresh sensation to this pleasingly persistent wine.
