Wine information:
Nestled at the base of the Bridger Mountain Range in beautiful southwestern Montana. RoughStock whiskey is made from Montana-grown malted barley, water from fed by mountain glaciers, yeast, time in a toasted and charred virgin oak barrel, and treated to a fair dose of Johnny Cash when time allows. Handmade Perfection! Each bottle of RoughStock is hand numbered with the batch number, bottle number, bottling date, and the individual who took the time and care to put the whiskey in that bottle. Roughstock is a small batch distillery, producing uniquely flavoured whiskeys in each particular batch. Does that mean every batch tastes different? The short answer is no, but the reality is that there will always be some minute variability. Many distilleries blend their whiskey to maintain some level of continuity; we embrace the individualism of each batch. After warming in the glass and adding a few drops of water, the nose is clean vanilla, toasted wood and a tannic. Served neat, the whiskey is initially hot with some astringency on the tongue. As the whiskey sits on the tongue, you pick up some sweet characteristics and a woody spice. After adding a few drops of water, the taste on the tongue includes a hint of citrus and a warm vanilla taste with some nutiness. For a younger whiskey, RoughStock is exceptionally smooth. Once in the mouth, the heat mellows out and provides some interesting tastes along with the developed flavours.
