Notes - Sogrape realised the immense potential of the Portuguese climate, soil, indigenous grape varieties and wine-making heritage some fifteen years ago. Having built wineries in many of the main wine regions, they have pioneered a dynamic approach to winemaking and the marketing of their brands. Sogrape bought Quinta dos Carvalhais in 1990 and it has since become recognised as one of benchmark estates in the Dao region. Quinta dos Carvalhais Touriga Nacional 2000 is a wine with a deep red hue. It shows a greatly complex aroma, with flavours of very ripe fruit (cassis), flowers (violet and bergamot) and spices (pepper and cinnamon). In the mouth, it stands out for the balance among all its components and for the extreme elegance of its tannins. On the whole it is a very well structured, elegant and complex wine that delights and conquers.
