Wine information:
Chateau Robert is located at the east of the Pomerol appellation. The vineyard area is 7.72 hectares and the soil is sandy - geravelly with a thin iron pan layer. The grape varieties planted are 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the average age of the vines is 35 years old. The grpaes are harvested by hand and the various parcles of grapes are sorted once in the vineyards and once at the winery. The wine undergoes a long maceration (24 to 35 days) in stainless steel and cement vats at a temperature of 28 to 30°c. The wine is then aged 18 months in cement vats prior to bottling. Production is approximately 28,000 bottles per year. Chateau Robert is a very well-balanced and poweful wine whilst, at the same time, being silky with soft tannins. it has an excellent mouth-feel and very good length, the finish is very clean. Excellent with roast beef or lamb.
