Meruge Vinho Tinto

Notes - Lavradores de Feitoria was founded in 1999 by a group of owners of some of the best vineyards and quintas in the Douro Valley, with a clear and strong commitment to excellence. This producer is an association of 15 quintas, and this is one of their top wines. Dirk Niepoort is the man behind this wine. It is a very dark red / purple colour and the nose is very ripe and deep with plenty of red fruit, spice and chocolate notes. The wine is very well strutured with good tannin, hints of green pepper and sweet red fruit on the palate. Very good finish. This is a big, rich and complex wine but perhaps with a bit more subtlety than some Douro reds.
