Notes - Declared “America's Native Spirit” by a 1964 act of Congress. Heaven Hill was originally established as a Bourbon distiller in 1934, and today holds the world's second largest holding of aging Kentucky Bourbon in 42 open rick warehouses situated throughout Nelson County, the heart of “Bourbon Country.” By law, Bourbon must be made up of at least 51% corn and be aged a minimum of two years in a new charred white oak barrel, standards that were pioneered by early Bourbon makers such as Evan Williams and Rev. Elijah Craig. At 12 years old and 94 proof, Elijah Craig is bottled exclusively from a dumping of 70 barrels or less, all drawn from the middle to upper floors of the traditional metal clad rickhouses. It is the original Small Batch Bourbon, having been made available even before the term was invented. Elijah Craig recently won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and was named winner in the Premium Bourbon category in Whisky Magazine 's bi-annual “Best of the Best” tasting competition. "Surprisingly light and delicate on the nose, some grass, mint, citrus and vanilla with just a touch of cocoa. Toffee, malt and rye in the mouth, a touch of dried fruit, spice and burnt sugar with a long complex finish. “It is a bourbon of almost unfathomable depth and has something for everyone. Brilliant.” Jim Murray
