Wine information:
The Royal Tokaji Wine Company pioneered the renaissance of Tokaji after the fall of Communism in 1989. A group of foreign investors, including Hugh Johnson and Peter Vinding-Diers, formed the company in cooperation with 63 growers in Mád, the Hungarian village which friends jested was named in anticipation of their joint venture. The grape varieties are 70% Furmint, 5% Harslevelu and 25%Yellow Muscat and the wine is produced for early drinking. The alcohol strength is always low, around 10%. Royal Tokaji Late Harvest has a fine citrusy aroma as well as a hint of orange peel that hit the nose, later turning to linden honey, and then all of a sudden, the bouquet of damp soil after rain captures the nose. As soon as the wine reaches the palate, it is fascinated with the aromas of apricot, later a note of pear and lime with a hint of vanilla. An ethereal elegance is accompanied with the delicate and rich taste. Refreshing aroma of grapefruit adds to the lingering finish.
