Notes - Bodegas Luzon was was founded in 1916 by a group of families with a long standing winemaking tradition. It was rebuilt and modernized in the late 1990's when a new young team brought in their expertise and new ideas. Jumilla has become the revelation among Spanish winemaking regions emerging as a leading force in the national and international scene. With ground breaking talent Bodegas Luzón has re-invented the traditions of winemaking in both terms of style and winemaking techniques. Monastrell is the main grape variety in Jumilla, there are records of it being grown there since the 14th Century, and this is a very important variety to Luzon. At Luzon, however, there are also plantings of Tempranillo, Cabernet Souvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot and the white grapes Chardonnay and Macabeo. This 100% Monastrell is wine produced under organic regulations established in the European Union with grapes grown from organic agriculture. It is not oak aged. The wine has a good, clear red / ruby colour with a violet rim. The nose has a touch of sweetness, mature red fruits, plum, lavender and mountain herbs (garrigue). The palate is full and meaty with great fruitiness and a spicy, long finish.
