Wine information:
Felipe Nalda Jnr, son of Riojanas' master winemaker Felipe Snr, is steadily developing an increasingly convincing range of wines from this impeccable, small, modern bodega. Grapes are sourced from selected high altitude vineyards more than 2,000 ft above sea level. Situated in the northwest interior of Spain, Toro's harsh and diverse climate is one of extremes - hot in summer and extremely cold in winter. From this hostile environment come some of the best wines. This 100% Tinta do Toro (Tempranillo) is aged for 3 months in American oak barriques. It is brambly, chunky and warming with a lean, muscular edge, displaying all the classic characteristics of the Tinta de
Toro variety. A short ageing in oak has given the wine a spicy toasty vanilla note rounding off the wilder elements of this dark, full-bodied red. Perfect with grilled meats, roasts and stews. This wine can also hold its own in the presence of chilli.
