Wine information:
Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon is a South African red wine made at the Plaisir de Merle wine estate. Established by the French Huguenots in 1693 on the slopes of the
Simonsberg Mountains between
Paarl and
Franschhoek,
Plaisir de Merle is a rare gem. A Distell showpiece, this 974 hectare estate in Simondium, Paarl, has earned international acclaim for its white and red wines. Winemaker Niel Bester attributes the benefits of working with great fruit coming from a very unique terrain and the invaluable input from his viticulture team. The
Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in French oak barrels for 12 - 16 months. The 2003 vintage is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting Notes:
Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon has a radiant red colour. The nose has aromas reminiscent of plum and chocolate. A spicy palate backed by soft tannins to ensure accessibility.
Food & Wine match:
A very versatile wine try with any red meat dishes.
