Notes - Bodegas Campos Reales is situated in the heart of La Mancha in El Provencio, the province of Cuenca on the border with Toledo. The company was established in 1988 after the merging of two cooperatives in the same town. It was in 1996 that they built a new plant, installing innovative machinery with state of the art technology, thus forming one of the most modern European bodegas, in a move towards producing quality wines of good, consistent value. The climate is moderate Mediterranean with hot summers and cold winters. Rainfall is scarce with annual amounts averaging no more than 500 mm mainly in the spring and autumn. These extremes of cold in winter and heat in summer are climatic conditions that are ideal for producing excellent quality grapes. The Gladium Reserva is 100% Tempranillo aged 14 months in oak barriques and then 24 months in bottle prior to release. Try with roast meats or barbeques. Dark red colour with a spicy, peppery nose and maybe a few hints of pencil shavings. Quite dense on the palate, red fruit and vanilla, oaky with good length.
