Wine information:
Print Shiraz is the pinnacle of Mitchelton winemaking. It honours the noble red variety originating in the Rhone Valley. Select parcels of fruit from low-yielding vines on the oldest blocks of the Mitchelton estate are harvested in small batches. All combine to create this finest and most distinctive example of Victorian Shiraz. Print Shiraz is a finely boned wine which balances the power of fruit and a delicacy of structure. It displays intense deep purple and violet hues. Rich aromas of brandied cherries, smokey charcutterrie and Christmas pudding accentuate the opulence of the wine. Extended skin contact for up to 20 days prior to fermentation creates full soft tannins. The wine is matured for 18 months in French oak (50% New & 50% two year old). Print Shiraz’s distinctive wood-cut print label ‘In Woos Wood’ is a nod to the artisan qualities that have blended together in the crafting of the wine, and a celebration of the winery’s history in supporting the arts in Victoria.
"This is the most detailed Print ever... With a uniquely captivating bouquet, highly polished fruit (which is more Burgundian than Shiraz like) and restrained oak influence... Barlow and Ben Haines have combined forces to bring sensitivity to this wine in equal measure. The result is unprecedented." Taste Food & Wine 2009, Matthew Jukes & Tyson Stelzer (Australia).
"Smooth, firm and concentrated...It reveals a confiture-like quality, with underlying nuances of cloves, cinnamon...
finishing complex and savoury." 93 Points, The Australian Wine Annual 2008, Jeremy Oliver (Australia)
