Pirie South Pinot Noir

Notes - Pirie Tasmania is based in the Tamar Valley region of Tasmania and is the creation of Dr Andrew Pirie, one of Australia's most respected winemakers and the driving force behind Tasmanian wine. The evolution of this wine reflects a desire to show faithfully the style and intensity of Upper Tamar Valley Pinot Noir in a young wine that is still delicate and fresh. Vibrantly colourful in the glass, aromas of black cherry and raspberry develop rapidly over background hints of kirsch chocolate liqueurs. Gentle tannins and subtle oak provide support for a juicy, fruits-of-the-forest middle palate with fresh acidity leading to a clean, dry finish. Age 1-3 years and serve in a big glass to capture the perfume. Try with crusty French loaf with brie or young camembert, barbequed salmon/ocean trout or coq au vin.
