Notes - Alejandro Fernandez established this Bodega in Ribera del Duero in 1972 and has been hugely influential in the resurgence of this important wine-producing region. The bodega now has 65 hectares of vineyards superbly sited on well-drained south-facing gravel banks and benefits from altitudes ranging from 2000-2500ft above sea level. The Crianza is 100% Tempranillo and is aged for eighteen months in new American oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle. The wine is cherry red in colour which reveals a certain youth and fruitiness. The bouquet reveals best dark fruit with oaky aromas, there are hints of fallen leaves and certain spices such as vanilla. Very smooth on the palate with abundant ripe tannins and an excellent balance between acidity and alcohol content. The oak is well-integrated and doesn't overpower the fruit. The finish is refined, long-lasting and elegant. Try with roasts, poultry, veal stews or semi-cured cow’s and goat’s cheese.
