Notes - Isabel Estate is nestled into the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Isabel Estate Vineyard was established in 1982 to produce premium classical grape varieties in Marlborough. Prior to the 1994 vintage, Proprietor Michael Tiller, then an airline pilot with Air New Zealand, together with his wife Robyn, operated Isabel Estate successfully as a contract grape growing vineyard supplying some of Marlborough's leading wine producers with much sought after premium fruit - now they to produce true "estate" wines - wines produced only from vineyards under its total viticultural control. Tasting note from
Isabel Estate - Wow, this wine is gaining weight rapidly - with a nose of brandied cherries/kirsch liqueur, violets and lavender. Very lifted aromatics, indicating the power to come. The palate, for a young Pinot Noir, is quite dense and full with flavours of spice and nutmeg, then a character of prosciutto ham is noticeable. The finish is long and fruit driven with fine, dry tannins and a little minerality - unmistakable Isabel family resemblance. This wine will reward you with further time in the cellar or, for us less patient, one hour in a decanter before indulging!
