Notes - The distillery was founded in 1824 by George Smith and his son, John Gordon Smith; it was the first licensed distillery in Scotland. The current distillery was built in 1858, near where the rivers Avon and Livet meet. In 1880, the Smiths won exclusive rights to the name The Glenlivet, enabling them to protect their trademark against encroachment by other, lesser quality whiskies. After more than 18 years in selected casks this whisky becomes a malt whisky of unmistakable honey-rich maturity and depth. The Glenlivet 18 year old is the winner of 2 gold medals in the International Wine and Spirit Competition. Golden amber in colour. Rich on the nose with sweet and floral layers. Honey-rich and toffeed on the palate with nutty, spicy overtones. Exceptional length of flavour.
