Notes - The Tamada Pirosmani ia a semi-sweet red wine made from 100% Saperavi. GWS have named this wine after the great Georgian artist Pirosmani. Pirosmani was known for painting distinctive Georgian scenes that were generally focused on the Georgian custom of a Supper Table. This wine has been made semi sweet as this adds to the fullness and fruitiness of the wine. The grapes were vinified at the Achinebuli winery under the watchful eyes of the GWS winemaking team. After fermentation and the natural stabilisation of the cold winter the wine was blended to maintain the intense fruit present on the nose and palate. The wine is deep purple when young and has the ability to age slowly maintaining the purple hues into its 4th and 5th years while developing a soft burgundy tone. The nose exhibits rich fruit characters reminiscent of blackberry and blackcurrant but also has touches of black pepper when young. The palate is rich with ripe berry flavours (blackberry and blueberry), the tannins are soft and there is a good balance of acidity and residual sugar. The finish is soft but full and the end is still bursting with rich ripe fruit and sweetness.
