Notes - The commune of Saint-Aubin lies at the western fringe of Côte de Beaune overlooking Auxey Duresses, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. The vineyards of Saint-Aubin consist of two areas of approximately equal size situated roughly at right angles to each other. One area has chalky limestone soils and is exposed to the south and south-east. In the other area, the soil contains a degree of gravel and clay and enjoys a cooler, more easterly exposure. “Sur Gamay” is situated on the first area, under the Blagny commune and not far from Puligny MontrachetThe white wines of Saint-Aubin are characterised by distinct nuances of hazelnuts and fragrant, peachy fruit not unlike Puligny-Montrachet. Maison Louis Jadot yield a stylish Saint Aubin “Sur Gamay” of medium body and depth with fine acidic balance and a delicious amalgam of generous, ripe fruit, supple vinosity and gentle oak notes ending in a clean, sustained finish. Saint-Aubin “Sur Gamay” will perfectly match
with fine cuisine such as creamed fish, flaky pastry dishes, smooth pâtés, white meat and some fairly strong cheeses.
