Notes - The Blandy family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and in the economic development of this remote Atlantic Island. The family continues today to live on Madeira, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811. Modelled after Colheita Ports, the Harvest (or Colheita) is a single vintage Madeira that has been aged in cask for at least seven years. The 1997 Harvest produced exceptional wines. The wine is full-bodied with a superb balance between the natural acidity of Madeira wines and the richness of the Malmsey grape variety. It has a deep golden, amber colour, a complex aroma of raisin, coffee and chocolate with a touch of oak. On the palate it has rich toffee and raisin flavours; it is full-bodied, well balanced, and has a long, crisp, opulent finish.
