Notes - The vineyard of Chateau Garraud is located on a variety of rich terroirs on the Pomerol plateau - gravel, clay-gravel, deep clay with "crasse de fer” and clay-sand. With an average age of 25 years, the vineyard consist of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. 80% of the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels and then bottled at the Chateau. The 2002 Garraud is very deep in colour with purple-violet highlights. There are hints of toast and vanilla on the nose but also with fresh berry fruit and cassis aromas. The palate is clean with soft tannins and the finish is long and persistent. "Garraud 2004 ***, Lalande de Pomerol. This must-have 2004 from the Libourne region is not as plump as the 2003, but full-bodied and complex, hearty and lively." Guide Chartier 2008 (Canada)
