Notes - A joint venture between les Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena, Amancaya is an harmonious balance between the Argentinean and Bordeaux styles. A more fruity style coming from the higher percentage of Malbec. The word Amancaya is the native indian name of a flower of the Andes that you can find in the Mendoza area. Intense purple-red colour. Good fruit, with aromas of ripe red cherries and wild strawberries, underpinned by notes of smoky vanilla from the oak. On the palate, good concentration, fresh but full. Balanced and very attractive with tannins of great quality. Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 to 60%; Malbec, 40 to 60%. Aged 11 months in French oak (20% new).
