Wine information: The Ramos Pinto 1995 Vintage is a Touriga Nacional (45%), Touriga Franca (40%) and Tinta Barroca (15%) blend. The grapes were trodden in the traditional way, in lagares, and the fermentation lastedup to 5 days, producing an excellent extract without damaging the wine mass. The port was then aged for two years in oak casks and bottled 2 years after the harvest in 1997. It is a deep and purple colour, starting to take on a few brownish tinges. The nose is intense, lively and peppery with some notes of cedar and cinnamon. There are also flavours of blackcurrant, red currant, clove and floral aromas. In the mouth the it is strong and voluminous. Dense and fine tannins gave a good structure. At the back of the palate there are flavours of ripe fruits and chocolate / cacao. A classic Vintage Port, made to last. To be enjoyed with Stilton, Gorgonzola or creamy cheeses.
