Jacobs Creek St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is now available in the UK again after a gap of about 5 or 6 years. It is named after the grandson, Hugo, of Bavarian immigrant Johann Gramp who planted his first grape vines on the banks of the then recently named Jacob’s Creek. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for St Hugo are all sourced from the various vineyards in the Coonawarra valley, all of them grown on the famed Terra Rossa oils. Coonawarra is considered by many to be Australias best Cabernet Sauvignon district. Each vineyard parcel is harvested and vinified separately, the resulting wines are then aged for 18 to 20 months on new and one year old French Oak barrels and these are subsequently blended to create the St Hugo.
