Rock Oyster 18 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited edition whisky from Douglas Laing & Co Ltd and it is the first Rock Oyster release with an age statement (they have also released an 18 year old bottling of Timorous Beastie). “The launch of this pair of feisty yet mature teenagers is an exciting development for Douglas Laing,” said Fred Laing, Douglas Laing & Co’s managing director.
Douglas Laing & Co Ltd are a specialist independent whisky blender and bottler with over 65 years in the business. The company was founded in 1948 Fred Douglas Laing in 1948 and is now run by his son and granddaughter, Fred Junior and Cara. Rock Oyster is part of their range of “Remarkable Regional Malts” which includes the aforementioned Timorous Beastie, the lowland Epicurean, Big Peat and the Speyside Scallywag.
Rock Oyster 18 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a whisky of “extraordinary character with maritime island qualities” and is a blend of malt whiskies from Arran, Islay, Jura and Orkney. It is bottled at 46.8% alcohol strength, traditionally without colouring or chill-filtration. In keeping with the maritime theme, The Rock Oyster label features artwork of a sailboat battling stormy seas off Scotland’s West Coast.
