Troublemaker Blend 9 is a multi-varietal, non vintage blend made by Hope Family Wines in Paso Robles, California. The Hope Family have been farming in just east of the Salinas River in Paso Robles for over 30 years. They had initially planted both apples and grapes in this, then, little-known wine-producing region. They no longer grow apples but instead they grow the Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvedre and Grenache. In the 1980s they began selling grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon to Caymus Vineyards for their second label Liberty School. They acquired this brand in 1995 and soon, in 1996, they established the Treana Winery. Their Treana Red Blend is considered to be one of the top red wine blends in North America. Today the family have some 40ha of their own and some 450 hectares under long term contracts and supervised by their own viticulturists.

The Troublemker Red Blend was first released in 2010. The name Troublemaker harks back to when a young Austin Hope (now president of Hope Family Wines) was sent to the vineyards for breaking the rules and making mischief. Austin wanted to create a wine that was inspired by his youth and made from varieties that flourish in the area. By using a multi-vintage approach, winemaker Austin Hope allows the wine to show uncanny complexity in its youth, yet rich and fruit-forward characteristics that make it ready upon release. A a truly distinct Paso Robles blend.

The Troublemaker Blend 9 is 71% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 8% Zinfandel, 3% Petit Sirah and 2% Mourvedre.
