Cahors wine is harvested around the town of Cahors in the Lot département in Western France. It is famous for red wines which are made mainly from Auxerrois (also known as Cot or Malbec), Tannat and Merlot. At best the wines can be deep, full-bodied and spicy with good ageing potential. At worst they can be thin and light-bodied. Chateau Pineraie L'Authentique is a very good wine made exclusively from Auxerrois aged in new oak casks.
