Saint-Bris is an oddity in Burgundy; it is the only appellation that allows the use of Sauvignon Blanc (and Sauvignon Gris) rather than Chardonnay. The Saint-Bris AOC was created in 2003, prior to this the wines were labelled under the VDQS status of Sauvignon de Saint-Bris.
