The grapes are sourced primarily from Quinta da Perdiz in the Rio Torte. The blend for the 2009 is Touriga Nacional 41%, Touriga Franca 36%, Tinta Roriz 14% and Tinta Barocca 9%. The grapes under a manual triage at sorting tables after which the grapes are de-stemmed and gently crushed. The grapes are relayed to the fermentation vats by a gravity flow process, and once in the vats they are inoculated with a specially selected cultured yeast, fermentation taking place between 26 and 27ºC. Maceration is very gentle and aimed at producing a wine intended for early drinking. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels of 400 L.
