Description
Allt A Bhainne 1993 Vintage Speyside Single Malt Whisky is a single barrel bottling of whisky. The whisky was distilled in 1993 and was bottled in 2018 after an initial maturation in American Oak cask followed by a finishing period of maturation in ex Sauternes wine casks.
The Cooper’s Choice is an independent bottling by the Vintage Malt Whisky Co. (VMWC). The VMWC was founded by Brian Cook in 1992, Brian is a honours graduate in Food Science with twenty year’s experience in the malt whisky industry, latterly as Export Director for one of Scotland’s principal distillers. The aim of the VMWC is to produce a range of malt whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries and to make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world – this is done under The Cooper’s Choice label. This old malt is individually bottled and presented under the distinctive Coopers Choice label. Casks of malts at different ages are selected from some of Scotland’s finest, but rarely bottled distilleries. They encompass all the varied tastes and flavours to be found from the Eastern coastline, to the Highland Valleys and all the way to the Western Isles.
The Allt-A-Bhainn distillery is located in Speyside. It was founded in 1975 and is currently owned by the French drinks company, Pernod Ricard. It is located near the town of Dufftown. It is one of the main whiskies used in Chivas Regal blended whiskies. It is unusual to see it bottled as a single malt. The Sauternes cask finish lends a sweetish character to the whisky with hints of peach and honey. The name means “Burn of Milk” in Gaelic.
Only 285 bottles of Allt A Bhainne 1993 Vintage Speyside Single Malt Whisky were bottled in 2018. Cask Ref #703. Bottled at 47% ABV.
