Baron Philippe de Rothschild Pinot Noir is Pay d’Oc red wine made in the heart of the Languedoc Roussillon wine region at BPDR’s state of the art winery located in Saint-Laurent-Médoc.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild is arguably the most famous wine family in the world, famous not only for Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau d’Armailhac and Chateau Clerc Milon all located in Pauillac, but also with projects around the world including Opus One in California and Almaviva in Chile amongst many others. The current Chairman and CEO is Philippe Sereys de Rothschild. Rothschild have always combined traditional know-how with experienced personnel and the most modern technology to produce excellent wines at all levels. You can be sure the Rothschild name does not appear on sub-standard wines!
Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s winemakers have selected the areas with the best soil and climate for growing Pinot Noir grapes. In the region around Limoux in particular they have chosen the highest quality parcels from their growers’ vineyards. All year round, each selected parcel is individually and permanently monitored by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild team. In order to obtain highly aromatic and expressive wines, the grapes are picked at full maturity. The wines from each parcel are vinified separately before final blending. The wines are matured on fine lees in vats for six months then quickly bottled at BPDR’s Saint-Laurent-Médoc winery in order to preserve all their freshness and fruit.
Baron Philippe de Rothschild Pinot Noir is an attractive, clean and bracing cherry-red colour. it has a refined nose which opens on pleasant aromas of red fruit (morello cherry, blackcurrant) and violet, mingled with some slightly smoky, mineral notes. On the palate, a well-rounded structure elegantly combines with highly refined flavours in a fresh, round and generous whole, building to a rich and silky finish that reveals substance, roundness and attractively fruity length.
Rothschild Pinot Noir is a lightish red wine which can be served slightly chilled and is a great match for chicken biriyani, beef carpaccio or lamb tagine.
