Bischofliche Weinguter Ayler Kupp Riesling Spatlese Feinherb is a delicious medium-dry Riesling from the Mosel.
The wine estate of Bischofliche Weinguter Trier was founded in 1966 with the amalgamation of three wine estates – Bischöfliches Konvikt (est. in 1840), Bischöfliches Priesterseminar (est. in 1773), and Hohe Domkirche (est. in 1851). Today, the estate comprises some 95 hectares of vineyards located at some of the most legendary sites in the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. Almost 90% of production is Riesling, with grapes crushed and pressed at Scharzhof on the Saar and Duisburger Hoffman on the Ruwer. Wines are then aged in either traditional fuder or stainless steel in their vast vaulted cellars in the heart of Trier, which date back to Roman times.
The grapes for Bischofliche Weinguter Trier Ayler Kupp Riesling Spatlese Feinherb come from a renowned vineyard site characterised by blue Devon slate. After careful picking and selection the grapes are fermented in 1000L oak Fuder and stainless steel tanks, both blended later to add complexity. The wine rests for a few months on its fine lees before bottling.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Classic floral, honeyed and baked apple aromas lead onto a really appealing palate with concentrated, ripe crystallised honey characters – balanced by vivid saline minerality on the finish.
Try with roast beef, lobster or warm apricot tarte.
