Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee Brut is Krug’s non-vintage blend.

Krug Champagne was established by Joseph Krug in 1843 and, with unique single-mindedness and sense of purpose, the Krug family has proudly cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne. Theirs is a living legend, a certain idea of excellence that has been quietly redefined through six generations without a break. Since January 1999 the house is majority owned by the multinational conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy / Louis Vuitton SA, owners of, amongst other luxurious brands, Moet et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart). However the Krug family still remains involved and, in 2009, Olivier Krug became the house director.

The flagship of the house, Grande Cuvée is the supreme demonstration of the Krug art of blending. No recipe can define its intricate harmony, so every year the Krug family works from taste and memory alone to recreate this most complex of champagnes. Typically, Krug Grande Cuvée is blended from as many as 50 wines from three grape varieties, 20 to 25 growths, and six to ten different years. The “birth” of Krug Grande Cuvée, through its first fermentation exclusively in small oak casks, ensures the unique personality and dimension that is the Krug Style. There is no formula or recipe for Krug Grande Cuvée. Each year the Krug family meets to re-create the Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee. This is done with careful attention to the most minute detail so that after six years of aging, it will be in perfect continuity with previous Krugs.

The current bottling is the 196th edition which is composed around the harvest of 2013, a year that beautifully expressed the unique characters of some of the House’s iconic plots. 43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Meunier.
