Chateau Clos Bourbon is located in Paillet, near Cadillac,  in the little known appellation of Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux. The Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux appellation was created in 2009 and replaces the old Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. There are some 1100 hectares and 80 wine producers in this appellation.

The owners of Chateau Clos Bourbon are the Boyer Family and the fourth generation Catherine Boyer and her husband Thibault have personally lived at the estate since 1994. This 18th century estate is located 30kms to the south of Bordeaux on the right bank of the river Garonne. The entire vineyard is surrounded by a medieval stone wall. The vineyard is situated on a mound of reddish clay and limestone soils. The 13 hectares of vines are 26 years old.

At Chateau Clos Bourbon they make two wines, this one and a second wine called Cuvée La Rose Bourbon. This is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. After harvest the grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration. After a traditional vinification the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.

The Famille Boyer also own the fantastic Chateau Du Cros which makes one of the original lees-aged Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc and a superb Loupiac dessert wine.
