Chateau Doisy Daene is a property in the Barsac sub-region of Sauternes that is famous for producing great, sweet white wines. The Chateau was classified as a second growth in the famous Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855 for their sweet wines.

The history of the estate stretches back to 1832. The name derives from Jean Jacques Emmanuel Daëne, who was the vineyard owner and a wine merchant in Bordeaux, and who at some stage bought one of three portions of the estate, whilst the Doisy part of the name came from the Dubroca brothers of Doisy-Dubroca who bought a portion of the estate in 1875. Today the estate is part Denis Dubourdieu Domaines (which also includes Clos Floridene, Chateau Chateau Doisy Dubroca, Chateau Cantegril, Chateau Reynon and Chateau Haura), having been owned by the family since 1924. Since 2000 the estate has been run by Denis’s son Pierre and it currently produces three wines: the main wine Chateau Doisy Daene, l’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne and a dry white wine, Grand Vin Sec du Château Doisy-Daëne.

There are 18.6 hectares of vineyards planted with 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc situated atop a clay-limestone plateau. The vines have an average age of 50 years old. Harvesting is done by hand with successive sweeps through the vineyard. Each parcel is vinified separately and is barrel fermented. Three months after the harvest the wine is blended and then aged in barrels for 12 months.

The 2009 Chateau Doisy Daene is a blend of 87 % Sémillon and 13 % Sauvignon Blanc.
