Description

Chateau Pavie Macquin St Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe is located in the Right Bank of the Bordeaux wine growing region in the commune of Saint-Émilion in the department Gironde. In 2006 the estate was promoted from Grand Cru Classe to Premiers grands crus classés B in the Saint-Émilion wine classification.

The Pavie Macquin vineyard is characterized by its location on a plateau, next to Mondot hill and on the edge of the Fongaban fault. The soils are all limestone-clay and express different aspects of the terroir through the vine, depending on the strength of the clay, and above all on their proximity to the asteriated limestone layer at a depth of between 20cm and 150cm. Pavie Macquin is the combination of power and minerality. The 15 hectares of vineyards at Chateau Pavie Macquin are planted with  84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
