Chateau Semonlon, which owned by Olivier Dumora, is located in Avensan, near Margaux and very close to Chateau Citran. The estated was establised by Mr Lagune, the great grand-father Olivier Dumora, and the estate has been in the hands of the family ever since. The vineyard area comprise 7 hectares, on muddy / gravel soils. The vines planted are 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot with an average age of 35 years old. All harvesting is done by hand and traditional winekaing methods are used (fermentation in steel vats) and the wine is then aged for 1 year in oak barrels.
Chateau Semonlon is a very soft, elegant and supple Bordeaux wine with a good Cabernet Sauvignon fruit intertwined with spicy notes and mellow and slightly woody tannins. There are hints of spice and the fruit on the palate is mellow and the tannins showing potential for a few more yearsrnbut are well balanced now.
