Description

Chateau Siaurac is a Bordeaux red wine bottle produced from grapes grown in the Lalande de Pomerol wine-growing appellation of Bordeaux’s right bank.

The estate is is located on the plateau of Néac which is a continuation of the famous plateau of Pomerol (only 1.5 kms from Petrus). It is one of the largest and most important wine estates in the region and has some 46.18 hectares under vine. Records of wine production stretch back to the 18th century. Pierre Brisson, a Libourne notary and Saint-Emilion town councillor bought the estate in 1832 which stayed in the the same family until 2020 when Les Terroirs de Suravenir, a subsidiary of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa banking group, acquired the property with a long term programme of development and improvement in place. The vineyard is planted with 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 6 % Malbec. Today the Chateau wine and a second wine called Plaisir de Siaurac are produced.

The appellation is situated close to the point where both the Isle and Dordogne rivers converge and is protected on the southwestern side by the hill at Fronsac. Influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, it benefits from good climatic conditions: sunny, warm and dry summers followed by clement autumns which encourage the grapes to ripen perfectly. The 46 hectares of contiguous vineyards are planted with 74% Merlot, 20% Cabernet France and 6% Malbec. There are 40 distinct plots of gravel and deep clay or clayey-sand that are worked according to their individual characteristics. The vineyards are in conversion to organic viticulture and using biodynamic cultivation techniques.

Chateau Siaurac is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. 

The 2018 is a blend of 80% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec.

Tasting Notes

Chateau Siaurac has aromas of black cherry and spice on the nose. A full-bodied, generously-juicy and very quaffable wine with great structure.

Serve With

Perfect with with red meats, Sunday roasts and the promise of shared and extended pleasures.
