The grapes for André Brunel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Cailloux are hand-harvested from multiple plots, each bringing distinct characteristics that give this wine its incredible complexity. The average age of the vines is 60 years old.
The plots at Bois de la Ville and Les Serres feature gravel beds with excellent drainage, producing highly concentrated juice. Farguerol and Cansaud boast red and blue clay soils, yielding rich, aromatic fruit. Finally, Cabrières and Revès offer chalky limestone soils that lend structural backbone and a long, elegant finish to the blend.
Domaine André Brunel is a family-owned, 22-hectare estate located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, alongside 40 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône. The Brunel family history in the Rhône stretches back to the 18th century, but it was in 1919 that André’s grandfather officially established Les Cailloux. André joined his father in 1971 and was instrumental in establishing Les Cailloux as a world-class domaine.
Today, the estate is expertly helmed by André’s son, Fabrice Brunel. With the installation of a state-of-the-art winery, Fabrice seamlessly marries cutting-edge precision with time-honoured Southern Rhône tradition, ensuring Les Cailloux retains its signature power, balance, and irresistible elegance.
André Brunel is widely recognised as one of the finest producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The name of the estate derives from cailloux roulés (or galets roulés), the iconic, heat-retaining rounded stones that cover the soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

It is quite a well-known fact that Chateauneuf du Pape could be a blend of up to 13 different grape varieties. In fact, since the Chateauneuf du Pape AOC rules were rewritten in 2009, there are 18 varieties permitted, with white, pink and black varieties of the same grape now listed separately.
