Louis Jadot Clos Saint Denis is a grand cru, one of four located in the village of Morey Saint Denis, which itself is one of the smallest village appellations of the Côte de Nuits. Almost “squeezed” between the more famous villages of Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny, the wines of Morey are strong like the Gevrey wines and very elegant like the Chambolle wines. Clos Saint Denis used to belong to the Vergy church of Saint Denis founded in 1203 in the château of Vergy. The vineyard face East and is situated on a soil made of calcareous clay with iron and marls. The wine is fermented in the traditional Burgundian manner for 3 to 4 weeks in vats followed by an period of 18 to 20 months maturation in oak barrels.
