Compass Box Hedonism Blended Grain Scotch Whisky is the the only 100% grain whisky in the Compass Box signature range. 100% grain whisky bottlings are quite a rarity in Scotland and a blended grain whiskies are few and far between – most of this precious grain whisky gets blended into big brand name blended whiskies. Compass Box Whiskey is a small independent specialist Scotch whisky company, founded by American John Glaser, that is devoted to making some of Scotland’s premier whiskies through the art of blending.
Compass Box Hedonism is only made in small batches, usually only once a year, depending on the availability of grain whiskies that master blender John Glazer can find. The whisky blend varies from batch to batch and is only made when some old grain whisky casks with the right flavour profile can be obtained. The whiskies are usually sourced from the following distilleries: Cameron Bridge, Carsebridge, Cambus, Port Dundas or Dumbarton. Typically the blend will be made from around 15 to 17 casks and the whiskies used are over 20 years old. After blending the whisky is then re-casked in 100% first-fill American oak barrels and some in rejuvenated hogsheads where it is aged for a further 24 months for the blend to marry together. Compass Box Hedonism is bottled at 43% abv with no chill-filtration or and colouring added.
