Description
E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2015 is a red wine blend comprised of blend of 50% Syrah, 45% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre.
The Guigal domain was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the village of Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over from his father in 1961. The Guigal family owns vineyards in Condrieu and in the Côte-Rôtie with illustrious plots in many famous appellations. The wines are made and aged at 12th century Chateau d’Ampuis located in the northern Rhone. In the summer of 2003, in an effort to improve quality and control over all aspects of wine making, Guigal opened an onsite cooperage. The cooperage at the Château d’Ampuis works in partnership with the cooperage at Chagny managed by Seguin Moreau.
E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Rouge is made with grapes sourced from vineyard with an average vine age of 35 years old located on varied soils including sediment, limestone, granite, pebbles and alluvia. The wine is vinified in a traditional manner with an extended period of maceration on the skins. The wine is aged for 18 months in large oak foudres prior to bottling.
This superior Cotes du Rhone will comfortably age for approximately 5 to 8 years and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
