Eral Bravo Malbec is a wine made by a new company formed by the Sanchez Nieto Family. The Sanchez Nieto family are most famous as the owners of the world-famous winery Nieto Senetiner which was founded by Don Nicanor Nieto over 40 years ago. The family sold Nieto Senetiner a few years ago and Eral Bravo. The name Eral Bravo is inspired by the tradition of breeding the Iberic bull, the “toro bravo”, in the Salamanca region of Spain. The name Eral is given to a bull of between 2 and 3 years old when they typically display the most bravura. Eral Bravo own a total of 155 hectares of vineyards all located at over 1000m above sea level. These are in Alto Agrelo and Alto Ugarteche in Lujan de Cuyo and in Alto Eugenio Bustos in San Carlos. The terroir, along with carefully controlled irrigation and low yield, produce fantastic grapes with a good balance of aromas, colour and tannins. The grapes for the Eral Bravo Malbec are sourced from the family’s estate in Agrelo where there is careful vineyard management. There is pruning to keep yields low, leaf thinning for good aeration and grape ripening and cluster removal to allow the remainig grapes to achieve full ripeness and concentration. Aged in French oak barrels.
