Glenmorangie 1989 Grand Vintage Malt Whisky is the flagship whisky in the Glenmorangie range. It replaces the now discontinued Glenmorangie The Quarter Century and is the second Grand Vintage released after the Glenmorangie 1990 Grand Vintage Malt (which was released in 2016).
Glenmorangie 1989 Grand Vintage Malt is a Highland Single Malt Whisky and is part of Glenmorangie’s Bond House No 1 collection, an exclusive series of whiskies that will allow connoisseurs and collectors to explore the single origins of some of Glenmorangie’s most prestigious whiskies, each distilled in a single year.
The Bond House No.1 Collection takes its name from the largest of Glenmorangie’s 19th century warehouses. For generations, Warehouse No. 1 was home to Glenmorangie’s casks of maturing spirit. But in 1990, its role was to change, as the Distillery sought to meet surging demand by doubling the number of stills, Scotland’s tallest since 1843. The existing still house had no room for expansion, so Warehouse No. 1 was transformed into a magnificent new still house, revered today as Glenmorangie’s Highland cathedral.
Glenmorangie 1989 Grand Vintage Malt is carefully nurtured for at least a quarter of a century in the finest ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. This sublime whisky exhibits an extraordinary mellow, rounded character with heady floral and fruity notes. Glenmorangie 1989 Grand Vintage Malt is presented in a very smart wooden case with copper detailing evocative of the famous copper stills.
Please note the box has protective plastic covering some of the metal fixings in the photographs.
From Glenmorangie: “Created from an irreplaceable spirit celebrated in an inimitable assemblage of casks, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1989 is the second release in our exclusive Vintage Collection, Bond House No. 1. This rich and complex whisky emerged from some of the final spirit ever distilled in our former still house – home to Scotland’s tallest stills for more than a century. As it lay maturing, the vintage’s distinctive character inspired an exceptional marriage of whiskies, conceived to complement the most prestigious parcel of all – finished in ex-Côte- Rôtie wine casks. After 27 years of judicious maturation, the subtle finesse of Glenmorangie unites with a rare intensity, in a momentous single malt.”
