Glenmorangie Lasanta is a 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Whisky that has been “extra matured” in Sherry casks.
Glenmorangie can trace its origins back to 1843 (although it is claimed that alcoholic drinks of some sort have been made in the area since the middle ages). There was a brewery on the site in the 1700s that used to brew using water from the famous Tarlogie springs that Glenmorangie use today. However the site did not become a distillery until it was purchased by William Matheson in 1843 who installed some old gin stills. Today the distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (who also own Ardbeg in Islay) and is recognised as one of the the top luxury Scotch whisky brands.
Glenmorganie Lasanta 12 Year Old is aged for 10 years in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and is then aged for a further 2 years in ex- Oloroso Sherry casks. Oloroso Sherry is a fuller and richer style of sherry usually characterised by spicy, nutty, particularly walnut, and caramel notes. Lasanta is Gaelic for warmth and passion, a reminder not just of the Spanish provenance of these Oloroso sherry butts, but also a reflection of this expressions lusciously soft texture and deep, enticingly sweet aroma. Non chill-filtered for additional aroma and mouthfeel. Bottled at 43% ABV.
This forms Glenmorangie’s core range alongside the 10 Year Old Original, The Nectar d’Or and The Quinta Ruban.
